Assassination of Minister Von Plehve in St Petersburg
In St Petersburg this morning at 9 50 a bomb struck the carriage of interior minister M Von Plehve as he rode to the Baltic station for a train to the palace at Peterhof to report to the emperor. The blast killed the minister and his coachman and fatally injured a guard officer while wounding over twenty others. The attack appears tied to a broad conspiracy with several arrests already made including the suspected assassin, a youth named Leglo, who is in a hospital severely injured by the explosion from his own device. The bomber wore a brown overcoat and a railroad official's cap. Witnesses described the moment the assassin rushed into the road and threw the bomb as Plehve's carriage approached the canal bridge near the station.
