June 27 fire at Springstein mill cotton warehouse consumed about two hundred bales of cotton. Mill operatives with help from the fire department checked the blaze. Loss estimated between 3000 and 3500 dollars. A separate incident reports Dowdle injured by a stone through a train window near Smyrna.

Spartanburg June 27 Mr A Bonham Martin, 54, killed himself by drowning in seven inches of water in a spring branch between North and Converse streets. Found face down in water, no inquest. Widowed, four children survive. Native of the county, lived at Martinsville, had been ill, in city for treatment. Mental despondency and ill health given as causes. Foley ad included after text.
