Three Men Hanged On The Same Tree in Newton Baker County
Albany dispatch reports a 2 am triple lynching in Newton Baker County. Garfield McCoy Wiley Anette and George McKinney, Miller County negroes, were seized from the jail by about 50 men, dragged into a field near Newton, hanged with nooses, and shot as they swayed. Jailer William Screws was coerced into releasing them amid revolver threats.
