Young Ed Holland Ends His Life With a Revolver
The 16 year old son of F L Molland, a Southern railway engineer, shot himself at 1817 Sumter Street during tea. He placed a photo of the young woman he loved and a note to his father over his heart before firing, dying instantly as he fell back on the bed. He had been despondent for two weeks, and his farewell hoped to meet his mother and the young woman in heaven. The bullet pierced the heart and lung and lodged in the back.
