Youthful Suspect Surrenders After Fatal Shooting
Walter Kelley, a young Black man likely around 17, surrendered to Sheriff Hunter after the Wednesday shooting at Mr Henry Horston's near Kershaw that killed another man named Cates. He is in jail awaiting the approaching term of court.

Girl Falls Through Capitol Panel in Lobby
A 14 year old, Marie Monckton, nearly fell to the marble floor in the state capitol lobby when a ceiling panel gave way. She landed on the balcony gallery twenty feet below and was saved by the balcony. Doctors report no bones broken though she suffered shock and bruises. the panel was an older cornice piece not part of this year’s ceiling work.

Death of Mrs Maggie Bowers in Oak nur et section
Mrs Maggie Bowers wife of Gov A Bower of the Oak nur et section died at home last Tuesday after a long illness of consumption. She was about 44 and leaves husband eight children five girls and three boys. Remains interred at Baler church yard Wednesday after funeral services by Rev Chandler.
