In Philadelphia on December 1 Mrs Kate Hassett leading lady of Keiths Eighth street theatre stock company was shot five times by Barry Johnston a famed actor and ex Richard Mansfield company member He then shot himself in the breast Johnston survived briefly and is not expected to live Jealousy is given as the motive and the shooting occurred at Darien and Wood streets in Tenderloin district.
Mrs. S. H. Newsom of Decatur Alabama credits Electric Bitters with curing her three year battle with indigestion waterbrush stomach and bowel dyspepsia She reports gaining 35 pounds and better eating. It is advertised as a guaranteed cure for indigestion loss of appetite stomach liver and kidney troubles sold at 50 cents at local stores.
Former world heavyweight champion John L. Sullivan filed for bankruptcy in a U S District Court. He reported liabilities of 2658 dollars and assets of 60 dollars in wearing apparel. The notice appears in the New York press.
