Lady Gordons Embarrassment in a Derbyshire Affair
A faded nobleman, Sir John, marries a younger social climber Lady Gordon after a costly courtship. After spectacular pomp he and his wife drift apart, she elopes with Lord Percival. The yacht wrecks, they sail on a steamer, and Sir John reveals a half million to keep the matter quiet. He dies months later and clears debts, urging concealment.
