Gov Hartley's radical message to the legislature aims to curb a wave of laws by forcing compromises on education roads and reclamation. Analysts say the tactic creates a built in delay and strengthens a coalition among higher education institutions while pressuring schools and state programs.
Benton County Pomona Grange assembled November 14 1925 at Buena Vista Grange hall urges the legislature to enact a state school book law similar to the Kansas law. The group cites annual savings of about 100000 and asks governors and lawmakers to support and enforce the measure. They urge committees to recruit other groups to aid in passage.
City businesses plan to close all day on Thanksgiving. The Courier-Reporter will publish on Wednesday next week and advertisers and correspondents are asked to submit copy one day earlier due to the change.
Mrs. O. A. Hostetter and her son Orville returned to Tacoma Monday after visiting his aunt Mrs. J. J. Reed for several days.
The Big Y warehouse crew and friends gathered on the Columbia river bank for their annual weiner roast. Two weddings the previous week, Bob Ryan and Delma O Keefe, Cy Zwanzig and Maggie Lester, were celebrated with gifts of silverware and dinner china as the event continued with feasting and games.
IL Serier traveled to Portland Redmond and Terrybone Oregon and on returning stopped in The Dalles to meet J B Gilmore Kennewick's former jeweler who asked to be remembered to Kennewick friends.
Benton county selects Link and Basque of Spokane to design a 100000 court house in Prosser. The three story fireproof building will include a jail, reinforced concrete floors, and automatic fire shutters. Plans ready in two months with construction due to start in March and finish within six months.
J Irving Griner, state supervisor of horticulture, stopped in Yakima en route to Spokane to review reports of wide differences in fruit inspections between Yakima and Benton counties. A Benton county car was re inspected with E E Hill and F E Bailey and found to conform with the best inspection service in the state. Griner said inspections in both counties are on a par.
The 1925 Jonathan apple season ends with the Big Y pools showing wide swings. Buyers withheld, panic sold, then market rebounded as late Jonathans cleared at strong prices. First pool offers various tiers from 88+ size at 1.95 to 0.85 for small lots. second pool mirrors volatility with lower bids across grades.

The Spokane firm that drew Benton County’s new home submitted plans for a Kennewick city hall. Displayed last Tuesday night in council chambers, the sketches drew favorable comment but no action due to only one plan being available. The firm puts construction near a little over 12 000 dollars, about the council’s limit. A decision will follow after more architects submit sketches.
The body of Floyd Kelso arrives in Kennewick and will be buried Friday at 1 30 PM in the local cemetery by the Robt. W. Ely Post American Legion. Funeral services were in California and the Legion will conduct short graveside rites. Father and two year old son will share a single grave.
