The first day of the Pre school clinic saw 17 children examined with better health than in prior years. Miss Brakel and Dr. Spaulding note positive findings as the clinic continues at the M E church parlors today and tomorrow with aid from 25 girls in the high school home relations class under Miss Michaelson.
Fishermen are warned that the bass fishing season will close next Sunday for the spawning season. Fishing for bullheads and trout remains legal in lakes and streams.
The Worthy Grand Matrons will visit Beulah chapter Pasco and Alma chapter Kennewick jointly on Friday evening May 15. A six o'clock banquet is planned at the Masonic hall and all members and visiting Eastern Stars are urged to attend. Beulah will perform the work with Alma opening and closing.

Sitka, a town of about 1100, is described as a significant advancement for his work.
Art Carpenter and Crawford Donahue of A. A. Anderson Chevrolet Co. received $25 bonuses at the district dealer's convention in LaGrande Oregon last night. Mr. Anderson attended the meeting.

One of the outstanding motion picture productions of the year will be shown in the local theatre next Thursday evening. Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Mendelssohn music runs three hours and has praise as the most important talking picture production. The cast includes fifteen stars and a thousand supporting workers. Box office opens Wednesday 1 to 5 and Thursday from 1 PM. doors at 7:30 and curtain at eight.
Upper Grades held a kittyball tournament with teams formed by six, seven, and eight grade boys. Junior Gifford led the first place team, Kenneth Bogue's squad took second, and Lindley Llewelyn's team finished third. Coach Elmer Huppman called it the most successful grade school event yet.

Eugene Shanafelt reports he made the freshman baseball team at the University of Washington. From sixty candidates, mostly Seattle high school stars, the squad was reduced to twenty-two. Suits and lockers have been issued and the freshman coach calls this group one of the fastest he has ever handled.
Kennewick golf club members in good standing are scheduled to travel to Prosser on Sunday May 12. Tournament play begins at nine o clock with teams listed at the first tee and players paired with opponents.

Ben ton County grade schools joined a May Day Festival in Prosser. The parade started at 10 with buses delivering children to the city park for events. Winners included Roy's race Ralph Howland and Glen Weiggands in track. Edith Keller in girls race. pole vault Harry Laurence and Jim Thrasher. high jump Truman Selph Gavin Jones. broad jump Gene Wade Donald Sitton. In afternoon program featured maypole dances and choral performances by local and visiting groups.
Strawberry picking starts late this week with the first ripe fruit found today in local yards. Gus Pearson and R B Kelso reported ripe berries while Wm Mills found berries early in the week. The crop outlook shows record volume but harvest labor may be tight and prices are not as strong as in previous years.
The Democratic county convention will be held Saturday afternoon in Prosser to select eight delegates and eight alternates for the state convention on May 23 in Aberdeen. Several local Democrats plan to attend.

Ferguson began as a beauty operator in Kennewick twelve years ago under Mrs. D. G. Rodgers. Public inspection invited.
Announcement this week states Beste Hardware will quit. Everything is to be sold including the store and fixtures. The Beste residence on First Avenue is for sale. Mr. Beste, Kennewick's oldest business man, began in a harness shop in 1908 near Kennewick Ave and Washington Street and has long served the area. no future plans announced.
Mrs Minnie Harrsch hosted a farewell dinner Wednesday evening in honor of Mrs Bernice Harris. Guests included Mr and Mrs George Rokkan, Mr and Mrs Ross Willsey, Mr and Mrs Bill Hash, Mrs Clara Reed, Mrs Bernice Harris, Hank Cottman, Mr Carpenter and Byron Masters.
