Cpl Robert T. Moore of Kennewick is an Aircraft Refueler in the Seventh Photographic Reconnaissance Group. Since 1943 the group has produced millions of prints from nearly 3 million square miles of occupied Europe and provided maps aiding the Normandy invasion and subsequent land actions.

Tweedt Saves Two Sailors On River Near Walla Walla Mouth
Robert Tweedt of Finley rescued Elroy George and M. P. Varaffo from a damaged raft on the Columbia River near the Walla Walla mouth. The two sailors had built the raft under the inter-city bridge and drifted toward rough water and rocks. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotila 85 member Tweedt sped a 12 foot boat at 25 mph and reached them moments before danger. Chief Kershaw and Highway Patrolman Wisner commended Tweedt and the flotilla for swift rescue efforts.
