Good talent, weather, and attendance mark Kennewick’s Chautauqua week. Thousands attend nightly at the big tent on Third and Yakima streets. Ticket pledges for next year exceed expectations, with about 250 season tickets signed. Performances by the Lyric Glee Club, Dr. Andrew Johnson, violinist Fillion, Governor Carlson, and the Military Girls highlight a varied program.

Committee to Locate Station for Irrigation Substation
A president appointed committee will visit Wenatchee Yakima Kennewick and other irrigable areas to select land for a new irrigation sub station. Led by Prof O L Waller the panel includes Henry Holtz S O Jayne and R K Tiffany with possible additions from Idaho and Cal Casteel. The project arose from a legislative bill and location now rests with the State College.

A meeting of the Highland Improvement club moves toward forming the Kennewick Irrigation District to cover 38 000 acres above the N P I gravity canal from Gibbon to Hover with 36 inches of water being studied by government engineers. Full Speed Ahead on Stockyards Plan in Kennewick
R E Pratt received blue prints for the first unit of the Independent Stock Yards in Kennewick with orders from C H Frye Seattle to begin grading near the S P and S depot. The project moves at full speed to be ready for the fall stock marketing season with 60 pens and sales yards fronting the O W R N tracks. The first unit covers 6 by 380 feet with loading platforms at both ends and a concrete floor capacity about 200 carloads.

Superintendent Lewis Offered Auburn Schools Post
Superintendent M S Lewis of the city schools received a telegram from Auburn school board president M G Rogers offering the Auburn superintendency at 2200 dollars annually. Lewis has not decided and would need release from his current contract, which runs one more year at 1900 dollars, before accepting.
