Events include boat races two heats of two miles, a 15 mile marathon, bathing beauty contest with 800 in prizes, diving from the highway bridge, water polo between local scouts, a Friday ball, and nightly dances with a fireworks display.

Pioneer Woman of District Dies in Spokane
Mrs. C. J. Beach died yesterday evening of cancer in Spokane after longtime residence in Kennewick. The funeral is set for Monday. The Beach family settled Dell Haven east of Washington street, and Mr Beach, an engineer for the Northern Pacific, helped build the Snake River and Columbia River bridges and the city hall building.

Early Apples In Shipment As Harvest Extends
Warehouses began shipping transparent apples Monday and report excellent quality and size. The market remains satisfactory though competition from outside districts has trimmed top prices to about sixty dollars per ton. Scouts Jobs Drive to Fund Camp Money
Kennewick scouts plan to attend the annual Camp Rotary program 12 miles from Milton on the south fork of the Walla Walla river. Scout rules require them to earn their own spending money, so local business people are urged to offer simple jobs. Bond Election Sought To Fund School Repairs And Classrooms
School board resubmits a special bond election to district voters to fund necessary repairs and new classrooms. If bonds fail, next year’s tax levy would rise about three dollars per hundred dollars of assessed value. if approved, repairs cost under 40 cents per hundred with overall taxes near 1.10 per hundred. The current bond debt is slated to be paid next year with a two mill levy, which would double next year.
Burglars Loot Plowman’s Cafe After Window Breakin
Thieves entered Plowman’s Cafe through a rear window Friday night and stole about 75 dollars worth of food and merchandise. A cut screen and broken glass show the entry. Sugar dumped on the floor was used to carry the loot including cigars cigarettes a ham cheese canned fruit and more. The crime is linked to transient fruit workers and marks the fourth burglary of this type in a month.
