Belair bakery in Kennewick installs a rotary isothermal oven and automatic slicing and wrapping machine. The new oven allows continuous baking with over ten loaves per minute when combined with the coal-fired unit, and the shop adds a walk in fridge two proofing rooms and a dressing room.

Pacific Power and Light will assist farmers to move hay derricks away from power lines during harvest again this year. R H Skill district manager urged careful routing of service calls and asked farmers to request help several days in advance to prevent accidents.
The S and J Motor Co which holds the local Ford agency has taken over the old Ford dealers location and hired Ralph Matthews former shop foreman. Equipment is arriving and repairs will begin soon with Matthews glad to be back in a familiar shop setting.
The U S Department of Agriculture through county war boards announces a program to mobilize idle farm machinery. Boards locate buyers, notify owners with a 10 day reply window, then may requisition or sell if owners refuse. Requisitioned gear sells at ceiling price minus repair costs or fair appraisal if no ceiling exists.
