Voters approve a $7,500 fire truck bond by 87 to 60 but miss the 60 percent margin needed. Ward results show first 33 yes 8 no, second 46 yes 27 no, third 8 yes 15 no. Fire department members plan to resign unless another election is held after registration period ends.
County Agent W L Georgeson reports a market for dressed wild rabbits in Spokane and Seattle area. Receivers include Westlake Public Market Seattle Queen City Market Tacoma The Savinar Co Portland American Market Fulton Market Westlake Spokane. Trial shipments of a dozen or two advised. crates and enclosures recommended for best meat. Freight to Seattle Tacoma Portland listed per hundred pounds with war tax excluded.
C. C. Cantwell and Keith E. Cantwell announce temporary closure of the Kennewick Poultry Market. No poultry will be received after December 28. Market to reopen next spring on an enlarged scale to handle early broilers.
Following Christmas Sunday, Monday December 26 will be observed as a legal holiday in Kennewick. All business houses will be closed throughout the day.
Kennewick saw a dust storm this week that turned fresh snow brown. Gusts were not high, but three days of thick air covered the ground with dust, likely blown from Big Bend wheat fields.
A special election approved removing a strip of land from city limits to control the Kennewick Pasco bridge approach. The city cannot grant a franchise for the bridge while the approach lies inside its corporate limits, and county franchise validity depended on the same. Engineers then began preparing lines to acquire title to the approach.
Preparations for the Mother Goose operetta do not stop grade school pupils and teachers from joining the closing day Christmas program. First primary pupils and Miss Morgan Miss Thompson and Miss Thora Anderson will host a Christmas party in Miss Anderson's room. Other rooms will hold Christmas trees boxes and parties. The four months term ends with a weeklong holiday and students return January 2.
