O'Neil Wins Spaulding Trophy at Walla Walla Banquet

Christmas Programs in Kennewick Churches

Special services announced for Bethlehem Lutheran St. Joseph Catholic and Baptist churches in Kennewick. Bethlehem Lutheran plans a December 24 program with children, choir, readings, carols, and gifts for participants. Rails to Port District Property Progress Talks

The city plans to use a new dump truck to haul dirt for a side track to the port district. Council members favor aiding port development, with rails switches and ties purchased and ready. The joint track will run from the Church Grape Juice plant along the N P mainline to the port, with a U P switch near the church facility. Deadline Set For Winter Pea Sign Up In Benton County

Farmers intend to grow Austrian winter peas in 1942 and sell to the Commodity Credit Corporation must sign up by January 1 at the Conservation Office. Chairman Fred Wilson notes several planters have not signed yet and urges signing to secure seed. if seed fails, the agreement can be cancelled. If peas are grown without signing, handlers cannot market through the CCC.

Accident Near Bridge Sends Two to Hospital

William and Lee Baumgartner of Highlands were badly hurt Saturday near the Kennewick Pasco bridge when their car collided with a truck driven by Ed Faulds. William suffered a serious spinal injury and Lee has serious cuts and bruises. Both were treated at Pasco hospital.

The city council voted Tuesday night to ask the state liquor board to grant a beer and wine license to the Bridge View Inn. The vote was four for with two absent. The council did not grant the license, resisting petitions for special consideration and deferring the decision to the state board.

Chairs Needed for Yakima Red Cross Sewing Rooms

Mrs Kathryn Jacobson secretary of the Yakima Valley Red Cross reports that material from San Francisco will be sent to Yakima valley branches. She says all work will be for home country and possessions. In Kennewick new sewing room quarters are in the National Bank of Commerce Building. Urgent need for work tables and chairs for the sewing rooms.
