Road contract deferred for Kennewick-Finley project
At the February meeting county commissioners deferred the Kennewick-Finley road contract toll Highway No. 4 to allow for new, simpler specifications. Commissioner J B Clements urged the Kennewick Commercial Club to prepare definite plans and emphasized early start to avoid delays and complications. The plan includes using Benton county funds and testing a spread gravel road linked to state improvements with the Good Roads Committee and County Engineer-elect T J Wright assisting.

Special Christmas cut glass shipped via canal route
Jas A Van Norsdall sent Corning New York stock to Kennewick via Panama Canal. The steamer charged 4.25 for New York to Seattle and the railroad 2.20 for Seattle to Kennewick. Combined steamship and rail charges run about half the total all rail cost New York to Kennewick.

Mrs Elinor Mecham Redington will conduct two demonstrations at 2 30 p m and 7 30 p m using electric ranges connected by Pacific Power Light. Kennewick ladies are urged to attend as Mrs Redington is an acclaimed cook and lecturer.

Farmers School Continues In Kennewick High
Two more days remain in the Kennewick farmers school at the high school building. Dairymen heard two talks by J N Price on dairy cow selection and feeding. Hog raisers will hear Mr Price on hog care. A L Strausz speaks to fruit and vegetable farmers on strawberry growing and potato diseases. Saturday covers poultry and home economics with Mrs Whittaker and Miss Sutherland.

County Splits $150000 Bonding Contract Among Five Bidders
County commissioners received bids from five bonding firms for furnishing surety bonds for county officers. Since all bids were equal, the $150000 award was evenly divided, with $30000 in bonds allotted to each agent. Local bidders R. H. Zercher Trenbath & Tweedt and L. E. Johnson were among the five bidders.

Mrs G W Sanders Dies in Walla Walla at 59
Mrs G W Sanders of Kennewick died early Monday in Walla Walla at the home of her sister Mrs W T Fix after gallstone illness. Her husband and four children survive. son Glen was at home. Funeral held in Dixie. Born in California, she came to Walla Walla at age ten and lived in Kennewick for years.
