Hover Holds Fine Fair Thanksgiving Day 1923
Hover residents celebrated the First Community Fair with farm displays in the Hover district. Exhibits included fruit, art, industrial work, needlework, and an antique booth. A community Thanksgiving dinner served 109 people at the high school gym, followed by a musical program and speeches in the evening.

The first meeting of the Highlands Woman's Club was well attended as members planned a year of events. Treasurer reported expenses for lawn irrigation, flowers, and table linen with $322.29 cash on hand since May. Mrs. E. H. Mann named Mrs. M. C. Clark to organize a Christmas program for children and later entertainments for all ages. Out of town guests included Mrs. Haney and Mrs. Long. Hostesses served fruit salad, wafers, coffee and cake. Mentions of a community dinner and thanks to current and former leaders closed the gathering.

Pasco high school edged Kennewick High 14 to 9 on Thanksgiving Day to even the season series. Kennewick led early with two Anderson kicks, Pasco rallied in the third quarter through passes and runs, and a late Pasco kickoff return set up the final touchdown after Kennewick stalled near the goal. Quarterback Soward left with injuries in the third quarter.

Halloway D P Called By Death In Washington
David P. Halloway aged 77 died Friday morning November 30 at his son Lester’s home in Winthrop Washington after a long illness. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon. He was born in Springfield Illinois and lived in Missouri and Nebraska before moving to Spokane in 1906 and Kennewick in 1908. Ill health after influenza led him to Winthrop in 1922 to live with his son. He was a Congregational church member and survived by his wife Tweedt of Huntington Park California, Harry of Eatonville Washington, Mrs W E Allan, Wesley and Lester of Winthrop and two daughters and a son in Nebraska.

Inland Empire Highway League Organized in Yakima
A meeting in Yakima Friday formed the Inland Empire Highway League with delegates from Cle Elum to Dayton. O. L. Boose was elected president, W. H. Kirkman vice president, and W. W. Lord secretary. The executive committee includes representatives from Kitita, Yakima, Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield, Whitman and Asotin counties. The group aims to place the Inland Empire highway on the state program as the first east west paved route, seeking 1925 highway department funding and endorsing cooperation with the Spokane Good Roads association. Kennewick sent Moulton, Moores, and Gardner to the meeting.

The Congregational Church hosts the second number of its course next Wednesday with Leak’s Orchestral Entertainers as headliners. Three more acts follow, with season tickets priced at $1.50 for adults and 75 cents for children, plus 50 cents per individual attraction. The program is praised as one of the best in the series.
