Collision overturns Ford near Collins corner
Geo Egbert's Ford overturned in a collision with T C Browne's Paige roadster on Finley road near Collins corner last Thursday evening. Asa Vance in the front seat with Egbert suffered a broken shoulder blade, a sprained wrist, and facial bruises. Egbert had minor bruises. Mrs Egbert and their children escaped with light scratches. both cars were only slightly damaged. Browne attempted to pass and struck the rear of the Ford.

Flu Epidemic Strains Community As Officials Call Emergency
Dr A G Tullar warned the influenza outbreak is desperate as cases rise across ages. School attendance fell with 35 percent at Washington and 60 percent at the high school. A meeting led by Mayor Sherk, Supt Hoffman and health and school boards was held to decide closures and hospital needs.

Mrs. Ralph Matthews Dies of Influenza
Mrs. Ralph Matthews died at the local hospital Sunday evening after a week with influenza. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Mueller Undertaking Parlors. Interment followed at Riverview cemetery. She was born June 3 1900, daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Griffins of Cascade Locks. She married Mr Matthews of Prosser April 1 and died while living with his parents in Horse Heaven. The father arrived for the funeral. Mr Matthews is seriously ill.

Mrs. Harris Dies at Medical Lake Asylum
Mrs. John Harris, of this city, died November 27 at the Eastern Washington Hospital for the Insane in Medical Lake. Funeral services were held Saturday at Mueller Undertaking Parlors. Beatrice Miller Harris, born October 1, 1890 in Cranberry North Carolina, had lived here briefly after moving from Montezuma North Carolina with her husband. They visited relatives in American Falls Idaho last fall and remained due to her ill health. She leaves a widower and two daughters Jessie 12 and Muriel 9.

The Columbia Irrigation District directors contract with Lumbers Trust of Portland to sell its entire $440,000 issue of bonds at 93 with 6 percent interest. Richland Boy Killed in Action in France
Elmer F. Lindskog, the first eastern Benton county youth to fall in World War I, was killed in action in France on October 4. The report came via a Red Cross letter and confirmation from Senator Miles Poindexter. Lindskog had joined Camp Lewis a year earlier and served in Company H, 18th Infantry, earning a bravery citation in the second Battle of the Marne.

Holland to push Prosser irrigation station plan
President E. O. Holland of Washington State College will push for a new irrigation experiment station at Prosser in the coming biennium. He plans to ask the 1919 legislature for a substantial appropriation to develop the site, buy 160 additional acres, and build needed facilities.
