John J. Quine of Olympia, head of the state parole board, was appointed superior court judge for the district to succeed the late Judge George Beardsley. The Bi Monthly Report of the PUD shows strong growth in the Kennewick area with an $86 911 05 revenue rise and a 21 percent uptick over the prior two months, and a 52 percent jump from the same period in 1947. Ten month totals for 1948 reach 390 675 07 against 265 158 72 in 1947, a 47 percent increase. Kilowatt hour sales for the two months ending Oct 31 1948 hit 6 010 293 with 23 percent higher than the prior two months and 57 percent above the same period in 1947. Total operating expenses rose 14 percent and were 12.3 percent higher than the two months of 1947. The report notes 23 655 man hours worked by an average of 72 employees, plus 2 122 overtime hours for emergency work.
