The district presents a Q and A on a proposed $55,000 bond issue to build a poured reinforced concrete two story school. Federal grant covers 45 percent, levy remains at ten mills, and local labor is emphasized with about half the cost devoted to work.
Ed Neuman orders a two manual Wurlitzer pipe organ to be built by Balcom and Vaughan of Seattle. The structure includes a special basement for the pipes and a living room console. Completion is expected within two months with Balcom arriving next month to begin basement plans. Ed recently broadcast from Portland on KGW.
The Kennewick planning board endorsed a park improvement project along with several others. Planned work includes straightening the street at the bridge near the schoolhouse, a south side road to a new canal bridge at Auburn street, and planting trees with shaded parking space. Action awaits formal acceptance while WPA head Mr Moran from Yakima is due in Kennewick tomorrow to consult.
Water will be turned out of the Columbia ditch Sunday night, ending deliveries until Thursday morning. Manager F. P. Mason notes weed cleanout work will pause service during the outage.
About thirty locals attended a Monday reception at Hotel Kennewick to welcome the new high school physical education head Johannes and his assistant Boulton. Toastmaster C L Powell introduced the pair as they outlined coaching duties for football and track and emphasized community support.

Prosser visitors touted a rabbit derby for States Day and brought rabbits to impress the chamber. The exhibition failed as the rabbits refused to run, instead squatting and even kissing Glen Utz’s dog as the crowd looked on.
Kennewick cannery to begin operation next Tuesday with daily hours and days as needed to handle tomato receipts. Mrs. Klitten announces the plant will run to process all deliveries received today at the facility.
Drivers are reminded of a nearby school by the Kennewick avenue bridge and near accidents have occurred. The city will erect stop signs as soon as possible and motorists are advised to slow to well below the usual eighty miles per hour on that stretch.
Retail outlets will be shut for the holiday with no local program planned. Labor Day is one of six holidays observed locally, and residents are advised to stock essentials such as bacon beans and salad dressing in advance.
Kennewick High School opens football season September 20 hosting Dayton and September 27 Toucher. The schedule includes a first night game at Yakima October 19, plus Hermiston Kahlotus Ritzville Prosser Wapato and Armistice Day slots, all on the new athletic field.
Western Agricultural Agent W P Stapleton will travel to California to obtain deposi tary agreements from Columbia Irrigation District bondholders for refinancing. Frank Maupin, secretary, aided in depositary records in Spokane as RFC and district officials prepare to close the loan once bonds are deposited.
In Pasco a young lad was shot during a watermelon raid and fear extends to the river side. Local bicycle riders raid nearby patches, prompting patch owners to warn youths to keep outside fences.
4 H club members will exhibit their year’s work at the 4 H fair in Prosser States Day on September 2. Home economics articles and garden products will be shown in the American Legion Hall. Judges include the state 4 H club agent. Entries cover awning baking sewing roan improv scent dairy caillo swine poultry and garden. First and second places advance to the district fair at Walla Walla September 5 6 and 7.
Benton county's 23 districts mostly switch to cash basis for the 1935-1936 term after distributing 13138.57 in state and county apportionment. Olaf Strandwold reports the second payment of the year, led by Kennewick at 3604. Kennewick and Prosser receive the largest shares. several districts group smaller sums.

Green will fill the unexpired term of Lee M. Lampson. Two director seats will be open at the next regular school election, one for a one year term and the other for a three year term as usual.
The second meeting of the fair board decided not to hold a fair or carnival this fall due to poor local crops. They will start early next year for a fall show, believing last week’s proposal drew little interest.
