Power Co to Issue Second Wartime Dividend for PP&L
Pacific Power and Light plans another wartime dividend totaling 300 000 dollars for its customers by late September. The payment equals about one month of service and will be distributed by mail as checks. Combined with a May dividend the two payments save PP&L customers about 600 000 dollars in 1944 and amount to an 8.3 percent rate reduction. The plan, begun last spring with state and local utility approvals, follows a board meeting in Yakima.

Lt Bruce Awarded Oak Leaf Cluster for Air Medal
Second Lieut. Leroy J. Bruce of Kennewick a B 24 Liberator pilot with the 15th Air Force has received the first Oak Leaf cluster to the Air Medal for meritorious aerial flight against the enemy. Bruce earned his wings and commission on August 30 1943 and is based at a 15th Air Force heavy bomber base in Italy in a group led by Lt Col Joseph G Russell of San Antonio Texas.
