Election on repeal set for August 29 in four-county district
The repeal election will be held on Tuesday the 29th at usual general election places. Qualified electors may vote, including those registered this or last year. Each district, including Ania Klickitat Benton and Franklin counties, will elect two members to the repeal convention with separate repeal and anti repeal tickets. The two highest candidates on the ticket win the seat. The nation has seen 21 states in favor and 36 against the amendment’s repeal awaits final tally.

County Road Oiling Under Way in Tri-City Area
County crews began oiling on the Kiona Benton road after finishing the Prosser Byron stretch. They expect to finish Kiona Benton by next Tuesday and then seal coat Plymouth Umatilla road from Kennewick city limits. The contract with Northwestern Road Co of Portland totals 15 157 dollars.

State Orders Cut in Irrigation Power Rates
The state department of public works ordered a temporary 10 to 35 percent cut in irrigation power rates affecting Pacific Power & Light Washington Water Power and Puget Sound Electric. The reduction retroactive to May 5 1933 applies to 1933 irrigation spray and power rates and requires new rates by November 30 1933. Per regulations late payments incur interest, deposits limited, and service not to be disconnected for prior year unpaid bills.

Railroad offers settlement on Benton tax case
The S P and S railroad proposed 35047 to Benton county commissioners to settle years of tax litigation. The offer includes cancelling a 23000 judgment the road says was illegally collected. The county approved and steps to collect the payment proceed. Benton was last of nine counties to accept the settlement.

School Bond Election Passes With Easy Margin
The special election saw only seventy adverse votes out of over five hundred cast. A bond issue about forty thousand dollars will refinance warrants at four and a quarter percent, replacing seven percent warrants and saving funds for the district.
