Flower show and children’s parade kick off at the Peace Hotel in Pasco on Saturday August 3. Entries from Franklin County and neighboring areas compete for cash prizes in blossoms bouquets and decorative floral designs with a floral style exhibit every thirty minutes from 2 to 10 p.m.

Baker Burns From Exploding Gas at Kennewick Bakery
A. T. Belair suffered painful burns Monday morning at the Kennewick Bakery when he tried to relight an oil burner for the steam boilers. The burner exploded, burning both arms one hand and one side of the face missing his eye. The burns are painful and his looks are marred for now but not permanently. He says he is pleased it could have been worse.

Leonard Marshall in a two flip accident off the highway near the Pasco Kennewick bridge last Thursday evening. A A Anderson followed a car with a flat tire and rear light out when Marshall rear ended him. Marshall said he tried to pull out and avoid the oncoming car but the soft shoulder led to a double flip. Both front wheels were broken and other damage occurred but no one was seriously hurt.

New Air Mail Schedule Cuts Pasco Flights and Train Links
Beginning today letters mailed before 11 30 a m depart Pasco by plane at 1 15 p m to connect with eastern flights, reaching Chicago at 4 20 a m and New York at 9 37 a m next day. Letters mailed up to 6 p m go by train to Spokane to catch the morning plane for eastern points, leaving Spokane at 9 55 a m and arriving in Chicago at 11 15 p m. The Pasco plane departure around 11 p m is discontinued.

RFC Grants Loans to Drain Districts in Yakima Benton
Reconstruction Finance Corporation approved loans totaling 22 000 to two drainage districts in Yakima and Benton counties and to Drainage District No 10 in Benton County. The joint district will refinance on 60 cents on the dollar for bondholders, with a larger loan request cut by 2500. County officials expect more favorable decisions on other districts.
