City renames streets replaces names with numbered system
Kennewick council redraws the street map eliminating duplicate names and renaming all streets across the platted area. Second street becomes Second Avenue on one side and stays Second Street on the other, while Third Street runs through as Third Street with numbers. Washington becomes Avenue and Yakima turns into Second Avenue. The full list will be published later as the fire map work proceeds.

A county club report by Gertrude Gage shows milk fed at noon raised weights among 184 children at the Washington Street school. Of 117 lunching at school, 90 reached or exceeded average weight by year end, 33 remained under. total gain 625 pounds, 82 percent lost none. For 67 taking lunch at home, 43 reached average weight by year end, 24 under. overall group gained 357 percent and 42 percent lost.

Three Whitman Students Escape Injury in Auto Crash
Yakima girls Margaret Clark Meta Pfeiffer and Myrtle Carlson, Whitman College students, escaped with minor bruises when their car rolled over two miles east of Kennewick while returning from Yakima to Walla Walla.
