The Columbia Srri District canals are primed with a strong head of water and rising daily. If seepage worsens, a 24 hour shutdown may be needed to repair banks. Water requests go through patrolmen, with farm users notified before discharge.
University of Washington dean Carl Magnusson outlines major European hydroelectric schemes in Norway and Sweden and compares them with Columbia River sites like Priest Rapids and Grand Coulee. He cites Priest Rapids at 318000 HP and notes Columbia flow peaks in July driving irrigation-ready power.

He notes that most customer complaints stem from unclear communication and that electrified farms on the Pacific coast outnumber those in other regions.
Richard H. Wilson of the state highway department said Snoqualmie Pass should be open to traffic by May 1 after work since February 20 on the west side. The snow plow nears the summit and the road to the summit should open by April 15. East side work starts after April 1 with a push plan using two large caterpillars.
Miss Monica Weiber of Benton county public health, based in Prosser, spent the weekend in Yakima. She reports the lower valley has not been hit as hard by mumps and winter ailments as Yakima so far this season.
The Shakespeare department met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs H H Fesher. The study of the second act of on Learn was continued with Mrs E O Keene teacher.
William Strickler and Grace Desgranges wed at the Christian parsonage in Coeur d Alene with witnesses including the bride’s father and the groom’s mother. They plan a Spokane visit then return to Kennewick to live in the Desgranges home after remodeling. Desgranges is the former mayor’s daughter and Strickler runs Kennewick Hardware. Alma Chapter U E S invites Pasco and Hanford for dinner with initiation to follow.
John P. Duke of Seattle told the Spokane Chamber of Commerce agricultural bureau that 5000 workers will break ground for the Priest Rapids power project by General Electric next fall. He said 100000 horsepower of electric energy had already been contracted.
