W S Haver chief engineer for the Short Line visits Kemmerer to inspect proposed improvements on the Nugget canyon right of way. Plans include widening bridges and enlarging the stream channel at a cost of 690 000 to prevent spring flood damage and relay tariff. A new Homefork Below Oakley channel cut will eliminate two bridges. 80 feet deep and 250 feet wide rock point work. Additional projects in view due to rising travel, including automatic stock signals from Pocatello to Tiesska and eventual block signals from Omaha to Seattle.

Arrested for rape case tied to Idaho trial
Deputy W E Mille of Big Piney and son Lester seized Joe Chase and handed him to Sheriff Danielson of Blackfoot Idaho for trial on rape charges. Chase spent last winter in Blackfoot then returned to the Piney area in February and is accused of relations with a neighbor's 11 year old daughter. The girl, pregnant, was reported to be near death. The charge carries a possible ten year imprisonment.
