Edison Recreates Music In New Phonograph Demonstration
The recital at Kemmerer Theatre showcased Thomas A. Edison’s ideal of a musical instrument that truly re-creates music. Miss Evelyn Cox and Miss Doris Proudfit performed with the New Edison phonograph, producing tone indistinguishable from live singing and violin, demonstrating the instrument’s fidelity to the original. Fresh evidence came as the lights went out and only the Edison’s output filled the hall, confirming the re-creation.
