New Reservoir Site Explored Near Middle Piney Lake
Senator W H Taylor returned to Kemmerer from Big Piney after reviewing the Middle Piney Lake reservoir site and lands to be watered totaling about 14 000 acres along with nearby projects. A favorable land report may prompt immediate action and spring work. Some 7 000 acres have already sold under the Cottonwood canal with about 25 families farming crops. Contractor Coolidge expects to finish the North Piney canal by October 10, enabling reclamation of 11 000 acres, 4 000 of which will be flooded in spring as the reservoir extension is completed next year. Taylor predicts many new families will move in this fall and winter.
