New Reservoir Site Planned for Middle Piney Lake Area
Senator W H Taylor returned to Kemmerer from Big Piney with C D Avery to inspect the Middle Piney Lake reservoir site and lands for irrigation totaling about 14 000 acres in addition to nearby projects. If the land report is favorable the plan will be submitted and work started in spring. About 7 000 acres have already sold under the Cottonwood canal with 25 families located there and farming has begun. Contractor Coolidge will finish the North Piney canal around October 10 reclaiming 11 000 acres, 4 000 of which will be flooded in spring as work proceeds toward the reservoir extension next spring. Taylor expects many new families this fall and winter.
