Reduction in Wool Rates Across Wyoming as Boston Freight Drops

The Interstate Commerce Commission reduced wool freight rates from Wyoming to Boston, effective June 1, 1912, after a long fight by the National Wool Growers Association. Wyoming saw the largest cut, with Laramie at 65 cents per hundredweight and Douglas at 22 cents less, averaging a reduction of two cents per hundredweight. The state produced 84 million pounds of wool last year, saving wool growers about 9146,200, and Boston buyers likely raised wool prices in Wyoming as a result.
