Problems Facing Stricken World and Bolshevism Debate
Frank Comerford argues Bolshevism is consistent socialism, not anarchism, urging open discussion of its merits. He traces socialist ideas from Plato to Marx, notes aims of common ownership, state control, and abolition of private property, and warns against dismissing the movement without understanding its program and history.

Kendrick Plea Grants Prospecting Rights to Homesteaders
Washington May 12 Senator John B Kendrick filed with the Interior Department a formal plea asserting that homesteaders under stock-raising and other acts have the right to prospecting permits on their lands. He cites section 20 of the leasing act and says entry before withdrawal entitles entrymen to permits, challenging the ruling that only stock-raising patent holders hold this privilege. He notes prior 1914 law effectively limited surface rights, but under Kendrick’s reading many oil-field entrants should receive prospecting permits on lands entered before withdrawal. He urges homesteaders to seek permits and defend their rights against denial by the department.
