Eight Hour Day will be marked next Saturday as a holiday in district coal mines. Locals prepare for celebrations honoring the eight hour workday, a goal won after a long fight. In 42 states laws now set eight hours as a day for state employees and many other workers. Wolf mining laws recognize eight hours as the day for underground mines and related work. In 1915 elk, deer, mountain sheep and goats are tallied, with notes on increases and protections, while other regions show variable counts and calls for better enforcement and public support.
