At a Fourth of July committee meeting last Thursday evening funds were allocated for sports prizes and children's candy and fruit. The day features a grand parade at 10 a.m. with prizes for floats, multiple races, a ball game, and an evening dance. fireworks will light the sky and are expected to be spectacular.

Thomas San a fur trader who worked in Wyoming and Colorado before the states were named died Saturday in St Josephs hospital after a long illness. He was about years old and first went to Wyoming over the Overland trail 50 years ago with the American Fur company. Pioneers and family were at his bedside. His remains go to Rawlins for burial. He lived near Devil’s Gate later, served as a government scout, and aided stock moves with pack trains. He joined the Masons and Shriners. Dr L M H A Hottenorf plans to move to Wakeville July 1 opening a private hospital and practice. A freight equip consignment for the O U R N passed Kemmerer Friday.
The Quealy-Peterman Sheep Company was incorporated in the office of the Secretary of State in Cheyenne Wyoming at 9 o clock on the Vth day of June 4. D. 1900. The object of the corporation is owning, boring, selling, managing and operating in all forms of existence of the company with principal business at Kemmerer and management of the cattle under the control of the directors elected.
In six open days at Seattle 208427 visitors passed the gates. Despite rain on days two and three the fair proves highly attractive, with Seattle daily thronged by visitors and dignitaries. Governor Brooks named Hon. Le Newlin of Newcastle as state examiner to succeed Harry Henderson who resigned. Newlin, a Weston county treasurer and banker, brings long experience and is expected to fill the duties creditably as Henderson did.
The marriage of Miss Addie Chamberlain of Daniel and Elmer D Key of Big Piney was solemnized June 1 at the bride’s parents home in Daniel. Rev J W Naylor officiated and guests included J M Van Dervoort and family, A I Richardson and son, Mr and Mrs Hudd and Miss Jewel Hayer, along with other friends. The couple will reside in Piney once their new home is ready.
Frontier Days will run four days in Cheyenne from August 16 to 21 featuring world class riding and roping contests, wild horse races, ladies relay and cowpony races. Automobiles races on August 17 attract many visitors and spectators plan to arrive a day early to view the events.
Col Christmas returned last week after a trip through Toronto Detroit and Chicago with other prominent figures. He says Mrs Christmas enjoyed the journey and it will do her good. She remains in Utica Michigan and plans to return to Kemmerer next month. His son Jaci accompanied him home and will stay to help his brother in the drug business.
Pinedale Roundup reports a major landslide on the Big Gros Ventre that has destroyed a two mile stretch of road to Jackson Hole and may move for years. It dammed the river forming a lake and threatens Hooded Collier ranch with a rising water level. the Hoback Canyon road project may accelerate as Supervisor Miller seeks funds.
Wyoming life policy holders received 260000 in 2008 according to Insurance President calculations. The largest payments went to relatives of John W tuner of Cokeville with 910000 and to a Cody resident widow. Other distributions occurred in Evanston, Laramie, Sheridan, Newcastle, Riverton, Cheyenne. Quealy returned from Salt Lake City to Oly on Saturday then left for Denver.
