Governor Carey issues a proclamation urging Wyomire residents to observe Boy Scout Week. The statement praises Scouts for wartime service and stresses that the movement builds better boys and citizens and encourages universal participation.
Crowley, president of the Chemical Oil Company, visited the city and announced plans to renew operations in a Fossil field. The firm halted last fall after reaching 500 feet and aims to drill to 3000 feet, with work to begin within ten days and be rushed to completion.
Lieutenant Commander Hawkins, a Maryland cattle raiser recently out of service, visited Kemmerer en route to Big Riper to stay with his old friend Jack Baum. He enlisted at war start, rose to lieutenant commander, transferred to aviation, and was among notable aviators in the conflict.

Lieut. Chamberlain of Kemmerer returns after serving with Company H and later the 146th machine gun battalion. He sailed to France in 1917 and fought in the Argonne forest from September 1918 until the armistice, crossing the Rhine with American troops. He plans to reside in Kemmerer with his wife.
A Hamstork Cattle Association meeting will be held at the Hamstork School house on June 25 to form a cooperative for cattle gradation and other purposes. The Arizona Wyoming Oil Company orders a three-carload shipment of materials for Fossil field development. A large storage tank will be erected to capture oil leaking from existing wells. The field superintendent arrives tomorrow to oversee drilling of at least twelve shallow wells this summer, including one capable of drilling to 8000 feet. The company will start building a pipeline within ten days and seek to market faster production exceeding 100 barrels daily as new wells come online.
The Lincoln Idaho Oil company will spud a second well in the Cretaceous Big Piney field within two weeks. The first producing well yields about 200 barrels daily. The field is expected to be busy through 1919 with drilling and development plans by multiple companies. Storage tanks have been ordered and shipped to meet anticipated activity.
H A Lewis proprietor of Lewis Cash Grocery buys the Emporium at Big Piney from Mr W Heitz and will run both stores. A Ives formerly with J C Penney Co will manage the Big Piney store. Kemmerer’s progressive businessman pledges honest service and reliable two town truck runs.
Four surveyors from the state capital arrived yesterday to assess and mark the road between Kemmerer and Bockwith to Bags. The project aims to pave the stretch soon, with officials noting economic benefits and preliminary work underway. J. G. Sloan of Montpelier visited Kemmerer on Sunday.
Monday night the city government shifted to the newly elected officers. The outgoing council finished year end business and handed control to the new leadership for Kemmerer. New roster includes Mayor T Hunter Salmon, Treasurer Geo R Symes, City Attorney ll Reynolds, Police Judge J W Glasgow, Marshal Dan Harrity, Night Marshal A S Johnson, Sexton R H Embree, Council President Andrew Morrow, Council members E L Smith W L Paulson Charles W Talcott, Pat Holmes as fire chief, L Bazzanella street commissioner, William Pitt building inspector, Mrs Miller janitor. The new council will meet Monday June 16 for routine business planning.
Dr J R Marquis manager of the Marqospital is in serious condition at his home in this city. He had been puzzling doctors for days but began to improve after recent seasonal calls. Monday night he grew suddenly ill and was unconscious for hours. Dr Maddison of Lincoln County Miner's hospital stayed at his bedside during the night. Dr A G Bevell of Rock Springs, a close friend, arrived and aided in care alongside Dr Maddison.
A Cheyenne Tribune report notes a severe cold snap with a forty degree drop in two days and snow squalls Saturday morning. The weather bureau warns of freezing temperatures tonight as residents shed straw hats and search for shelter from the biting air.

C E Melvin and Rope will appear for defendants with Christman likely prosecuting. The cases stem from oil interests set in Lincoln county.
Two men of Mexican complexion, dune G. Flores and Francisco Rue ieigues, were arrested for disturbing Sage citizens. In court Judge Glasgow fined them $10 and costs for an imaginary trip to Sonora after intoxicated actions and a violent confrontation. The injuries were treated by Dr. Maddison, and the judge imposed the sentence.
A popular couple wed at the home of a local family in Aten Wyoming on Monday evening at 8. The ceremony was performed by a clergyman named Berd and witnessed by a small group of friends. Central Smith presided as maid of honor with Juxford as best man.
