The War Service Committee of the American Library Association reports 435000 books shipped to American soldiers in France by July 1. Totals exceed 2590000 books to camps and stations at home and abroad, with about 500000 purchased and the rest donated. Nearly 40 library buildings have been erected and 600 camps in the U.S. have received book collections. Over 200 volunteers, leaders in their fields, aid as camp librarians and organizers in field shipments to France.
