William E Curtis famed correspondent visits Kemmerer with wife and party. They tour coal camps of Kemmerer Coal Company, meet city leaders, and discuss Wyoming prospects in coal, asphaltum beds, livestock, and agriculture while Curtis plans broader coverage for the Chicago Record Herald.
A severe storm hit July 4 night causing extensive damage to the electric system. Crews worked through the night to restore power and assess outages across affected areas.
At a special Town Council meeting last Saturday for cement walks and curbing in Kemmerer only one bid was received from J Irvine of Keen Hiver City at 20 5 per square foot. The contractor will prepare materials in the first week in August and expects delivery of a mixer soon.
Oakley official H T Kubota, acting as Kemmerer s consul visitor, received word from Y Numons Japanese Consul in Portland. About 250 Japanese nationals are expected to attend at the Kemmerer Opera House for his first local visit to foster ties with the community and learn the area.
Diamondville miners Holma and Hakkala lost a false imprisonment suit against Sheriff Jones. Judge J A Hiner dismissed for 850 000 damages, saying the sheriff acted under commitments from Justice Smith Evanston authorities, and Holma and Caretela served twelve days before release. Thomas Jones of Cumberland visited Kemmerer en route to Salt Lake City. Sam Lloyd acted in Cumberland.
A reunion attendee notes Mr A Richardson resumed his position as switchman at Kemmerer yard after a six week absence due to a week off. The event marks his return to duties and reaffirms his role with the railway.
