Range Conditions in Bad Shape Near Granger

Reports from Ed Blainey J D Noblitt and Geo Murdock say massive feeding efforts near Granger to counter heavy snow. About 15 inches fell with no wind drift creating a hard crust, forcing outfits to trailed in. Bagley Gray ranch holds around 23 000 head with daily hay and alfalfa deliveries plus corn and cottonseed meal. Several outfits including Holt Bros and Colister moved in from Henry's Fork, noting heavy snowfall. local firms such as Stewart Harding Co Hebet Land Live Stock Co Afton Land Live Stock Co Star Valley Land Live Stock Co Standard Meat Live Stock are active feeders.

Heavy Snow Endangers Uinta County Sheep

The recent storm and persistent cold grip Uinta County as sheepmen report heavy losses. Reports from Rock Springs show 26 below zero with 18 inches of snow elsewhere. Sheep remain fed where possible, with deeper snow on the south side of the railroad and in Linwood. Fort Bridger rancher Watson notes about 18 inches locally and warns of great losses if conditions do not improve.

Visitors from Cokeville Attend National Stock Show in Denver

Mr and Mrs J W Olson of Cokeville visited Denver last week for the National Stock Show where Pete Olson was noted as one of the busiest men in the Colorado capital, with interest in Thoroughbred stock and attendance at the event. Olson also went to Salt Lake City for the Nations Wool Growers meeting, receiving appointment to the credential committee. J C Kinney left Rock Springs for Omaha and Chicago with a stopover to view the Denver Stock Show. Al Osterhout returned from Denver with Mrs Osterhout and daughter Josephine to see the National Live Stock Show, Myra Osterhout plans a brief visit to Salt Lake City before returning to Mig Piney Ranch. Editor Littlefield of Casper Dress left for Denver to attend the Stock show and related events hosted by the Denver Press club.

Special Session Judge Craig in Kemmerer Disposes Several Cases

Rawlins judge David L. Craig presided in Kemmerer over a two day special district court session. Dismissals occurred for the horses in the Big Piney case and for R. V. Cunnington. Gamblers in Sublet pled guilty and paid fines of 100 each. Fred Hoyd, alias Francis Vamplin, was sentenced to Rawlins Penitentiary for forgery. D. E. Feeney faced non support and was released on own recognizance. bonds set at 600 for punctual court appearance.

Getting Ready to Work at Labarge Field

Marians arrived Friday from the Labarge oil field to Kemmerer for business matters. A heavy snow about 15 inches fell on Labarge hindering operations but crews continue work and expect to receive a large drilling machine when weather allows. Mr and Mrs John Roberts and son Thouss returned last week from a long trip to Pennsylvania to visit relatives.

Much Snow Falls Delays Mail and Rail Traffic Across Region

Heavy snow blanketed the area over the past weeks causing mail and railroad disruption. The Laval to Granger line and Conroy branch faced deep drifts with rotary plows called from Pocatello to clear routes. No. 5 waited two hours forty five minutes to pass Fossil as crews shoveled snow. Outlying camps reported delays of two to three days while lines gradually resumed on schedule.

Wyoming Cattle Shipments Outpace Other States at Omaha Yard

Edward Wedemeyer, secretary of the State Live Stock Commission, requested a report on cattle received from various states sent to the Omaha stock yards. An inspector’s statement shows Wyoming top with 416 units, followed by the Dakotas, Colorado, and others. Wyoming shipments include cattle passing through Denver en route to Omaha and from Colorado and other states.

Rail traffic disruptions from late week derailments and weather

Railroad notes report A J Stevenson and Mr Dunn of Poontelly visiting Kemmerer Sunday and Monday to inspect traffic conditions. They investigated four wrecks near Marseid jug with nine cars derailed, delaying traffic for hours. W A McGovern of Pocatello, OS L assistant superintendent, visited Kemmerer. Snow totals and drifted piles from Granger to Montpelier and Montpelier to Pocatello hinder rail operation, with No 5 delayed five and a half hours and No 1 held three and a half hours after a tunnel area wreck.
