Cumberland Mines Operated by Union Pacific Coal Company
The Cumberland mines in Union Pacific counties are run by Union Pacific Coal Company. About 500 workers live in two camps with 260 attending three local schools. Current output exceeds 1,500 tons daily with a planned 2,000 ton daily rate after a new coal dump at No 2 South is completed by year’s end. Prospects from west outcrop drilling show promise though no figures yet.

Spencer Bros. store visitor heads to Kemmerer for grain sale
Randolph Utah based Spencer Bros. manager Over from Randolph Albert Spencer and his father in law Bishop John Kennedy visited Kemmerer on Wednesday to dispose of two cars of grain. Spencer, long employed at the Elko mines, left to serve a mission in England for six months and returned due to illness.
