The Druggist and the Footpad
The stealthy Footpad robs a druggist, demanding his wad after knocking him down. The druggist retells patrons’ varied visits to his shop from stamps to almanacs, hats to matches, highlighting the shop's busy but ordinary life before the thief concedes and departs with a purse. The tale closes with a comic aside about Jonah.
