The city publishes a new ordinance after a Monday night vote. It requires all saloons to close at 2 a.m. and remain shut until 7 a.m. The measure follows a governor cited report about railroads hindered by employees frequenting saloons in nearby towns, with similar actions noted in Union Pacific and U.S. routes.
An Emportum window display on the Triangle showcases Red Cross efforts by Kemmerer Diamondville Frontier Sublet and Oakley branches. Samples illustrate items made for soldiers with a large shipment planned to Denver headquarters. A list of 240 Christmas boxes is also being prepared for dispatch.
Mrs. Matt Armstrong of Diamondville underwent a rare Caesarean operation, supported by six of seven local physicians, to save her life and deliver twin boys. The procedure, first of its kind in the state, required National Medical Board consent. All three patients are recovering well at the local hospital.
James McBride of Fort Bridger married four days after meeting Natilla Van Hoorda of Chicago. The Catholic ceremony was led by Father T. D. Lynch. The couple traveled from Ft. Bridger with cattlemen Ernest Roberts and Roland Hamlin, with a small group of friends attending.
Local hotel records reveal a flood of oil men visiting the city with a long list of guests at the Hotel Kemmerer. Names include Dr A G Burritt Salt Lake City C K Costello W K Wood Twin Falls W E Langrill Chicago and several others from Portland Alaska San Francisco Tulsa and Chicago among towns.
Dr Francis J Nuss of Chicago with Dry Piney holdings visits Kemmerer as Cheyenne group from Green River Petroleum and Cretaceous oil firms arrives. Attending visitors include H Ridgely Frank Bon C L Rid don and others. B A Woodruff and wife of Tulsa Oklahoma also tour town representing Sinclair Oil Co and showing growing Lincoln County field interest.
Brandon Watt sails from Kemmerer on a weeklong to ten day tour through Denver and eastern points into Casper and Lander oil fields with a aim to learn brokerage operations and assess new investment. He acts as Kemmerer Brokerage fiscal agent for Domino Wyem ing Co and may acquire stock if observations prove favorable. Other officers include Thomas Sneddon president Olaf Jetson secretary W Comer treasurer and directors R A Hocker and others. Temporary offices opened in Ivan S Jones suite over Kemmerer Savings Bank for absence coverage.
Salt Lake City editor and Lackey Holdings figures toured Kemmerer to verify a reported oil lease. O D Van Buskirk and Charles Lackey aimed to finalize terms after a $10,000 check was carried to secure a lease interest. A Wyoming party also traveled to Green River to inspect nearby oily lands.
Rock Springs hunter Sorensen arrived in Kemmerer with George Burroughs to face charges for illegal killing on public land. The case, led by Court Commissioner Christmas, resulted in a fine after the man pleaded guilty. Sorenson continues pursuit of a hunter who claimed Wyoming residency to evade laws.

George Irving of Juneau Alaska and A C Cronin of Portland Oregon arrived in the city this week to assess Lincoln county oil prospects. Irving represents Alaska and Northwest interests while Cronin, an experienced oil man, has worked in Oklahoma and other fields. They plan to tour the Poisal and LaBarge Piney fields, invited by Lester G Baker former editor of the Kemmerer Republican.
Dr HB Opie of Chicago explored Lincoln county oil potential then organized a Chicago capitalists group to drill locally. The Central States Oil Company, with charter articles filed, lists directors W H Sills Dr E Orpe Attorney W N Horner N K Porter and C A Going. Holdings cover the Dey Viney and LaBarge fields.
Incorporation papers filed in the county clerk’s office for the Lincoln Wyoming Petroleum Company. Directors include Kenneth M. Jackson of Tonopah Nevada linked to George Wingfield, J A Larson cashier of Cokeville State Bank, Harold R. Harrison Lincoln County Clerk, T D O’Neil Big Piney cattleman and former county commissioner, Walter A. Muir prominent Rock Springs attorney, J Park Thompson general manager, Charles Lackey consulting engineer, A G Burritt Salt Lake City geologist, and Harold R. Harrison secretary treasurer.
EB Pearlberg of Chicago arrived in Kemmerer and visits the Dry Piney and La Barge fields. He represents large interests in Chicago and is impressed by prospects. Local efforts move forward as a company is formed to push a project in the field.
Lieut Reynolds visits Lieut Marshall and Reynolds learns he earned a second lieutenancy in the coast artillery after training. He will lead siege work in the war. Mrs Jadot invites ladies to knit for soldiers at her home tomorrow. Red Cross meetings move to Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
The eleventh annual Lincoln County Woolgrowers Association convention met in Cokeville over Friday and Saturday with leaders like Secretary McClure and Homer Fenn addressing attendees. Debate focused on predatory animal destruction and shifting work to the Biological Survey, with no new king animal funding. New officers were elected: T. Hunter Salmon president, J. D. Nobitt vice president, with a six member executive committee. The group planned to meet again in Kemmerer next year and featured an annual ball and a social smoke event. George Tanner will attend the Cheyenne state meeting of county assessors and discuss equal taxation with the Board of Equalization.
Kemmerer delegation represented at the Woolgrowers Convention with about forty guests hosted by Cokeville's residents. Visitors arrived on No. 17 to find hotel space exhausted, yet Cokeville folk found rooms for all. The group gathered at the theatre for the annual Woolgrowers' dance, enjoying a lively evening of cheer and hospitality before the edition continues on the editorial page.
