Nine Divorces Granted In Oddney Session Court
Judge J. R. Arnold held two sessions in this city last Thursday disposing of cases on the docket. Alberta Strine was granted a divorce from Herman Strine. the case was uncontested. Mrs. Sarabelle Sherman obtained a divorce from William E. Sherman on grounds of gross indignities and desertion. Dan Wooley pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of intoxicating liquor and was fined 200 dollars plus costs. Modesto Berloffi was granted a divorce from Mario Berloffi on the grounds of incomparability. Attorney J. A. Christmas represented the plaintiff. J. W. Sammon appeared in a pleading matter involving employer liability in a fatal accident at Cumberland No. 1 mine on June 17, 1918, where Ottavio Ottavianna, a Union Pacific Coal Company employee, died. His widow and three daughters in Italy seek damages. the company claims no liability. Judge Arnold extended time for heirs’ counsel to present evidence. Attorney Jeremiah Stokes appeared for heirs, proving a codicil to Claus Stoffers estate. Annette Stoffers appointed executrix without bonds. Alberta, Mary, and Christian Smith were adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Mary Mockhart. the children’s parents died in the flu winter.
