In the Wyoming fields Locators hold surface rights to protect their claims and may sue only for possession. Charles C. Richardson, promoter with Standard Reserve Oil Co, notes abundant oil signs in Spring Valley and predicts at least $500,000 in development in 1902. He cites gas, oil fumes, gypsum springs, and bitumen shales as strong indicators. Richardson, recently from Chicago, is now in Evanston as secretary and GM of the company preparing operations. A Bucklen’s Arnica salve ad appears at the end describing its use after a near-fatal runaway and other skin ailments.
