The local Chamber of Commerce hosts a big patriotic meeting at the Lyceum tonight with a band playing patriotic airs. Following a program of songs and addresses the event ends with a social dance. all residents are urged to attend.
Tonight Kemmerer military band travels from Frontier to Diamondville inviting residents to a veterans fundraiser at Lyceum Hall. The free mass meeting starts at 8 00 with a patriotic program, then a dance to benefit soldiers aid fund with tickets 1. After the event the band performs patriotic numbers and the audience joins in songs.
Lincoln County residents attended a busy week in Salt Lake City for the L D S conference and the Cudahy Packing Plant opening. Notables including Marshall Reynolds and Tom Sneddon joined many stockmen. Admiral Peary spoke. A Noblitt and others visited a Salt Lake City hospital. The L D S gathering drew record crowds and announced 2500 cash prizes to boost potato and spring wheat yields amid wartime.
Plains Oil Company's standard rig reaches Opal for unloading before removal to the LaBarge field. A carload of Lincoln Lumber for derricks accompanies the start of development work. W L Hanson of the Pyramid Syndicate travels from Chicago to push operations. drilling experts Kahl and Hillyer arrive in Kemmerer to begin preparations.
Fosatt official Dive Hoye reports plans to open phosphate grounds in the Fomeroy Boal area about six miles from Sublet. Mr. Boyce notes rising demand over the past decade from 50 000 to 806 000 tons in California. Cradley Brothers of Sage currently market the product bound for California.
The handsome roving cup, gifted to Company K by the Adjutant General, has been on display in the window of City Drug Store for several days. It was the third prize in the contest recognizing meritorious border and camp service over the past year.
Ex official LeRay Grant, longtime auditor and prominent state figure, died suddenly at his Florida residence Sunday morning. His remains, to be flown to Cheyenne later this week, will be interred at Lakeview Cemetery after a funeral likely Friday at the Masonic temple with Mrs. Grant accompanying.
Sheepmen debate where to lamb as snow covers the usual lambing grounds. Some plan to move sheep from the desert ranger to Cokeville for shed lambing this spring.
A mine foreman resigns after four years with the firm and plans to leave for his ranch in the valley. His wife and family waved goodbye as he departed this morning for the homestead.
Captain H H Waugh reports Company H near full war strength after recent recruiting. In Evanston 15 recruits were secured. Kemmerer sends two new sailors Carl Colburg and Ed Thomas Jr with 100 more expected nationwide to reach field strength. Navy age now 16 to 35 and more companies, including one in Kemmerer, are planned across Sweetwater, Teton, and Lincoln counties.
R R Racent reports Star Valley Company H soldiers arriving in Kemmerer and quartering in a skating rink. About 30 new recruits plus veterans push the roll to nearly 70. Wyoming reorganizes to 100 men per infantry company with a 15 company national guard regiment totaling 1438 men. News notes good quarters, clean kitchen, daily equipment arrivals, and ongoing medical and drill preparations before long training.

Wood of Salt Lake City arrives in Kemmerer to establish a new branch for the Utah Idaho Motor Company. He plans to take over the old Kemmerer Cut Rate building from Watt Brandon and display Mitchell and Lowall vehicles. Curtin says a carload of Studebaker Pare will arrive late week.
