An enthusiastic Republican gathering in Kadoka Tuesday evening drew a large audience with Congressman Martin as the featured speaker addressing party supporters.
The Kadoka Republicans and friends hosted a Tuesday night rally at Kadoka Hall with former Congressman Eben W. Martin of Deadwood speaking on national issues. Scotty Brown chaired and introduced Martin. Governor Crawford’s absence shifted duties. A banquet at Hotel Dacotah followed with remarks by local candidates and music from Mrs. Stuart. many out-of-town attendees joined. The event ended around midnight with broad praise for the gathering and its political momentum.
Twenty five miles east of Belle Fourche the government experiment station in the Bisck Hills sits on prairie upland with a wide view of the Hills. An aeronaut would call the scene picturesque as the farm stands alone amid a sea of waving grass.
Democrats of Kadoka and vicinity organized a Bryan and Lee club at Kadoka Hall electing Harry Hammond president J A Jones vice president B L McNally secretary and Frank Coye treasurer Hammond addressed the gathering and pledges were adopted to back Bryan and Lee and the Democratic ticket about twenty five members signed up a further meeting and speakers planned for the campaign.
Kadoka town schools opened for the year with a good attendance of 35 pupils and expectations to double soon. Prof F A Nellis from Tripp schools leads the work and Mrs Kate Osborn oversees the primary department. The eight grade of common work and two years of high school are currently enrolled.
A list of Farmer's Institutes across the state with scheduled dates from September to November. The notice invites local parties to promote and advertise the meetings, with programs to be provided to local papers one week before each event. Superintendent A. E. Chamberlain signs the announcement.
Granville Jones, secretary of the state federation, returned from a 30 day tour addressing commercial clubs and campaigning. He visited Webster Aberdeen Watertown Huron Mitchell Sioux Falls Pierre Fort Pierre Kadoka and Draper praising Western South Dakota as an agricultural stronghold and noting eastern crop prospects while stressing rail access and regional fairs. He plans a Presho address and a 30 day statewide political tour.
