The Stanley County Fair drew strong attendance and left attendees pleased. Officials hailed the event as a memorable success in the county's history.
Exhibits praised as par excellence with fine agricultural products on display. The ladies department well represented and contributing to the event's standing.
The Second Annual Stanley County Fair featured grand exhibits in crops and livestock and a full entertainment program. Highlights included Poland China hogs and Duroc Jerseys, prize milch cattle, a fine school exhibit, speed events, races, ball games, and a notable address by Granville Jones. The event, held on rising ground south of the Kelling quarter, drew praise for its quality and promises to become a lasting regional tradition.
A busy day in Kadoka with attendees at the Philip Festival and a string of local updates. Fires near Martin Johnson’s barn and a prairie fire threat prompt calls for firebreaks and prevention. J E Schwichtenberg opens a jeweler shop in Gross Bros and offers free school eye tests. J P Holmerg pleads guilty to mail mishap and pays a $50 fine.

The West Hotel on Underwood's business street opened last Sunday with a swell dinner hosted by landlord Meyer. The two story 28 by 74 building offers 14 sleeping rooms a large dining room office and sitting rooms a well equipped kitchen and gas lighting. Meyer aims for first class hospitality and strong patronage between Rapid City and Pierre per Underwood News.
