Typhoon Kills Thousands in Hankow and Canals
The Shinono Maru arrived in Victoria B C with news of a typhoon at Hankow that followed a freshet disaster that killed over a thousand and wrecked many boats. Hundreds of corpses lined the river shores as steamers fled. A coal mine disaster in Kwang Sa cost about 1 000 lives.
