No motive found. coroners and townsfolk call it probable temporary insanity. Bride elect and others react with shock. funeral planned for Wednesday at Oswold Cemetery.
Obituary notes the death of Christian Leupold at Estherville Iowa aged 92, died at his son Henry’s home. Born in Germany he lived 51 years in Jackson county. He claimed to cast the first Republican vote in Jackson township and voted for McKinley in 1900. Survived by five sons including Charles of Chicago and Henry of Hy.
The U S senate approved the ship subsidy bill by a 42 to 31 margin on Monday. The measure faces uncertain prospects of passing the president. Police seized James McKune aged 22 on request of the Post Office Department as a primary suspect in a stamp theft involving nearly 75000 dollars from the Chicago post office. William Coughlin of Morris and Miss Estelig Wainwright of this city were also tied to the case with Coughlin reported as confessing and implicating McKune. Wainwright was released after it was found she had no knowledge of the stamps.
