Lydia Andres and Myra Zacharise of Blue Island vacation with relatives here. German M E Sunday school picnic held July 4 at Conrad Andres grove with plentiful refreshments and games. Charles Heisner, returning from Chicago, plans to stay among friends for an indefinite time.

A June wedding took place June 20 at the German Lutheran church with Miss Etta Vogt and Fred Funk uniting. The ceremony featured a large bridal party, flower girls Esther Neilson and Mamie Rosenberg, and hundreds of guests. The couple honeymooned in St. Louis and will reside in Chicago by August 1.
Florence resident G. L. Baskerville bid $260 for a team of gray mares at the Joliet horse fair on Wednesday, reflecting strong interest in horse teams at the event.

The board of review now in session adopts 16 rules governing tax appeal sessions. Sessions commence at 10 o clock a m and the board will hear cases as scheduled, with administrative details appearing in the notice.
Emmett Newman 25 of 2830 North Eleventh Street died after being found unconscious on a Joliet baggage car. His mother Mrs Sallie Lee suspects murder and says Newman had left St Louis with two companions Frank Kale and a man named Brassey who had shared a room in Chicago. The family moved from Centralia 14 years ago and Newman left behind four sisters and two brothers.
John Dames Sr died last night at home on Blutstraet at age 87 from general paralysis. Born June 17 1817 in Coblantz Germany he arrived in America in 1837 settling in Joliet. Survived by widow and seven children Anna Mia Louise Ullman Mrs W R Goodheary John Joseph Frank Edward. Funeral Friday 9 a m at St Johns German Catholic Church with departure from home at 8 30 a m burial in St Johns Cemetery.
Judge Haven has ruled delinquent taxes must be collected. The county treasurer Salter will auction off remaining real estate on Monday morning July 11, with most parcels expected to sell that day to avoid postponement. In prior years some tracts were postponed after partial sales.

The Illinois Baptist assembly under the Baptist Young People's Union will gather in Galesburg from July 29 to August 7. Notable speakers include Mrs. John A. Logan, Rev. A. W. Lamar, Rev. Dr. R. S. McArthur, and evangelist W. A. Sunday. Lieut. R. P. Hobson appears August 6. The event features music by Kutur Boy and lectures by Catherine Tsilka, Florence Ben Oleil, and Charles T. Ritchie among others.
Steve H. a mill employee at Silver Cross Steel Works entered stove No 8 in furnace No 3 to perform duties. Hot soot fell upon him causing fatal burns. Hardich, who assisted, was severely scalded. An inquest the next day returned a verdict consistent with the facts. Hardich, about 33, left a family.
Patrick Tierney 86 died at home in Troy township near Joliet from old age. Survived by three sons and two daughters including Bernard, Charis, Henry, Mrs William O Brien and Mrs P W Murphy. Henry Van Allen 20 died of paralysis at St Josephs hospital. funeral at St Patrick’s church. Louis Spieker and child died at home. funeral followed at local church and cemetery.
