Child narrowly escaped after engine strike on Jackson street

Two year old Daniel Nicholson Jr., son of Daniel Nicholson the LL and E engineer, was knocked down by engine No. 82 on Jackson street crossing but survived with a few scratches. The mother witnessed the near tragedy and saw him tumble under the tender before being pulled clear.

Body of John Mueller Found in Des Plaines River

John Mueller, missing 59-year-old Joliet butcher, was found in the Des Plaines River at Plaines, Ill, 1:35 p.m. The inquest returned death by unknown causes. This marked the fifth body recovered in a little over two weeks amid a national mystery.

Neighbor In Drainage Dispute Faces Injunction Request

Fred Erickson filed a bill for injunction through his lawyers to stop Henry Schmidt from blocking a natural water drain on land in Washington township. Jerry Lindsey Saw His Feathers at Night Thieves

Thieves broke into Jequ da chicken coop on the avenue last night and stole three pullets. Police found no trace, as the robbers fled after 11:30. Lindsey suspects boarders from the nearby box car hotel, and feathers blowing from railroad tracks were noted this morning.

Mrs John Martineck who tried to kill her husband by throwing gasoline and starting a fire was released this afternoon. She remains under bonds to keep the peace. authorities say it is best for her children.

Husband and Wife Bound Over on Illicit Relationship Charges

Warren accuses Henry Jenks of consorting with his wife Ethel Warren, with marital disputes spilling into court. Jenks and Warren are bound over to the grand jury for illegal relations after a confrontation at Mrs. Warren's North Eastern Avenue home. Warren, recently released from jail for assault with a deadly weapon, caught Jenks with his wife and said he planned to force Jenks to leave town. Mrs. Warren was briefly released, then rearrested while awaiting a train, reportedly to prevent her fleeing.
