Murder of Joliet citizen Beltzner shocks city on Hunter avenue
August Beltzner Sr., a veteran and store owner at 841 Hunter avenue, was shot to death during a failed robbery by Tony Blouth and Matthew Starsha. Police captured the suspects after a rapid city dragnet. Starsha confessed detailing the plan and the three shots fired inside the store. Beltzner died at the door as he chased the bandits, a scene described by neighbors and confirmed by an inquest.
